Hey, I’m Tania from Germany, and since January 2025, I’ve been volunteering at Kitekuda Kite Resort – and I absolutely love it! I came to Sri Lanka to improve my kitesurfing skills (okay, let’s be honest – I didn’t have any before, haha) and to explore the local culture. What I didn’t expect, though, was how quickly I’d settle into the laid-back lifestyle at Kitekuda. After just a few days, I felt calmer and more relaxed than ever. So, let me take you through a typical day at Kitekuda Kite Resort so you can understand exactly what I mean.
I know from my own travel experiences how important the first leg of the journey is, it really sets the mood and tone of your vacation. I've put together this guide on how to get from Colombo's Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) to Kitekuda Kite Resort with its Duotone Pro Centre Kappalady, covering all the main transportation options.
I will strongly encourage you to do the wind dance on the balcony at 2 a.m., but try as you might, I can’t guarantee the wind. Luckily, there are many adventurous activities you can enjoy on those windless days. For the purpose of this post, I am going to assume you are staying with us at Kitekuda Kite Resort and so all directions will be given from the Duotone Pro Centre Kappalady.
